Putting online safety first

What does Family Protection do?

A happy young family around a laptop

McAfee Family Protection is the perfect addition to your PC security software. It works with McAfee Antivirus, McAfee Internet Security and McAfee Total Protection, as well as security products from other brands, to shield your children when they are online.

This parental control product blocks exposure to social networking risks, inappropriate websites and many of the other threats associated with the Internet.

One of the biggest problems faced by parents is finding the right balance between giving children freedom to explore, learn and have fun whilst protecting them from the threats posed by strangers within social media and from accessing adult content websites. McAfee Family Protection lets you set the parameters and gives you complete peace of mind.

Perfect for children of all ages, this product will block up to 35 categories of inappropriate websites whilst using keyword filtering technology to filter objectionable material from other sites. Your child can enjoy watching videos on YouTube, for example, without being exposed to the more offensive material that can be accessed there. It also lets you control how much time your child spends on the Internet each day.

Stopping Internet bullying

McAfee Family Protection also monitors and records your child’s conversations on social networking sites and instant message conversations so you can be aware of what is being said and who it is being said to. This allows you to keep an eye on any bullying issues, inappropriate conversations or approaches from strangers that may take place.

This software will also block access to inappropriate applications and prevent your child sharing confidential information. It will provide a complete overview of your child’s Internet and Instant Messaging activity, block emails from unknown addresses so that your child cannot communicate with strangers and let you receive email alerts if any attempt is made to access inappropriate content or post personal information online.
